Baljeet Kaur hails from Tarn Taran district in Punjab, a region with a strong hockey culture. Growing up in a modest household, she faced financial challenges in her early sporting journey, as her family struggled to afford basic hockey equipment. Support from her family and community helped her continue pursuing the sport. Her determination and natural speed quickly made her stand out in local competitions, eventually earning her a place in junior national training camps.
Baljeet first gained recognition at the junior level when she represented India in several youth tournaments. Key junior achievements include: Silver Medal – 2018 Youth Olympic Games (Buenos Aires), FIH Women’s Junior World Cup 2021 (South Africa) – India finished 4th, Junior India Tour of Chile (2019). Her performances at the junior level established her as a fast and aggressive midfielder capable of controlling transitions between defence and attack.
Baljeet made her senior debut for the Indian women’s hockey team in June 2022 during the 2021–22 FIH Hockey Pro League. Since then, she has been part of India’s growing midfield core and has featured in several international competitions and tours, including: FIH Hockey Pro League (2021–22), Asian Champions Trophy 2023 – Gold Medal.
She was also part of India’s tour of Australia in 2023, which served as preparation for the Asian Games. At the domestic level, Baljeet represents Indian Oil Corporation Limited in national tournaments. She also played for Odisha Warriors in the Women’s Hockey India League, gaining valuable experience alongside international players.
