The India U21 Women Juniors Team has beaten the Canberra Chill in their first matchup today with a thrilling victory of 3-1. Chill is an Australian club competing for the Hockey One League.

This was the India U21 Women’s team’s second win in the ongoing Australia tour. India will conclude their tour with one more match scheduled on October 2, 2025, against Chile. Their previous battle against Australia saw the Indian team get their first win by 1-0.

For India, both wins came after suffering two consecutive defeats against Australia by 5-0 and 2-3 in the previous matches. The team has gained the momentum and has added a much-needed boost to their squad.

As per reports, the tour is a step towards preparing India for the upcoming FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2025, scheduled to be held in Santiago, Chile, in December 2025.

India 1 – Australia 0

In the previous and third match against Australia, at the National Hockey Centre, Canberra, on Monday, India secured their first win of the tour. It was India’s forward Kanika Siwach’s 32nd-minute field goal that led his team towards victory.

The match contested a fierce battle between the two teams, with India pushing to the edge against the Australians. The third quarter got India the lead with Siwachi’s goal and successfully restricted its opponent with no runs scored.

India 0 – Australia 5

The Indian junior women’s hockey team suffered a gruesome defeat, a 0-5 loss against Australia at the National Hockey Centre, Canberra, on Saturday. Australia’s Makayla Jones, Sami Love, and Migaliya Howell were the top goal scorers of the match.

In the second quarter, India brought in their defensive ground against Australia, limiting them to score before halftime. Both the defenders and goalkeepers played their roles well, but India was unable to bring in the required attack through their players.

India 2 – Australia 3

In their opening match, India was defeated by Australia 2-3 on Friday, who held a dominant attack from the start. Makayla Jones’s field goals scored in the 10th and 11th minutes got India in a deep hole, failing which they lost by one point.

India’s defender Lalthantluangi and forward Sonam were the goal scorers. Meanwhile, for Australia, it was Bianca Zurrer, Evie Sransby, and Sammy Love who scored the goals.
