England Takes a Glorious Win at the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025
It was a triumphant win for England, who defeated Canada by 33-13 to win the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 on Saturday, 27 September, 2025. The Red Roses lifted the trophy in front of a crowd of over 80,000 at the Allianz Stadium.

The England team then resumed their celebration at a Champions Party at the Battersea Power Station in London. The whole team gathered on the balcony with Captain Zoe Aldcroft, reliving the moment of lifting the World Cup trophy once again.
A Look into the Finals Game
In the finals match between England and Canada, the Red Roses took the dominance in the first half itself. They were leading by 21-8, which made Canada bring some changes in their game.
Canada’s change in tactics created problems for England in the first 40 minutes of the second half. England went for 4.2 points per entry, while Canada managed 1.6 points.
England successfully made over 1,192 tackles in total, that is, 199 tackles per match. Canada, on the other hand, could get only 928 tackles.
In total, over 12,928 tackles were attempted, out of which only 1,545 were missed, with a success rate of around 88.1 percent.
Highlight Winners
England’s head coach John Mitchell was named Coach of the Year. He led England to their third World Cup title.
Kabeya won the Mastercard Player of the Match award in the finals game with over 100 tackles under the success rate of 85.6 percent.
Despite the loss against England, Canada’s De Goede was crowned World Rugby Women’s 15s Player of the Year 2025. She beat England’s Meg Jones and New Zealand’s Jorja Miller to claim the title.
New Zealand’s Braxton Sorensen-McGee won the Breakthrough Player of the Year title. The 18-year-old made her first final game appearance and was the tournament’s top try and points scorer.
A Record-Breaking Event
The final match broke records with over 81,885 people in attendance, 53 percent of whom were female, and 444,465 tickets sold. Meanwhile, the event was attended by fans from worldwide, including over 133 countries.
BBC TV reported a viewership of around 5.8 million, becoming the most-watched women’s rugby match ever.
Women’s Sports Take Center Stage
After rugby, women’s sports take the front stage once again, this time with cricket fans gearing up for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup. India Women will battle it out in the opening match against Sri Lanka Women at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Assam.
