Defending champions India are into the finals of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025. The team remained unbeaten and set up a dominating victory over Iran by 33-21 in the semifinals match held in Dhaka on November 22.

India’s performance throughout the group matches reflected their brilliance and dominance. They started the tournament with a commanding victory over Thailand by a score of 65-20. Following that, they next faced Bangladesh and defeated Germany by 63-22 and Uganda by 51-16. They ended with four wins in the league stage.

Recently, in the semifinal game against Iran, India tackled and raided with early strikes. They formed a defensive line, which Iran struggled to break through. They also had limited scoring opportunities as India continued with a compact defense and raids that were well-timed.

With the victory, India has now advanced to the finals, making them a step closer to their second title of Women’s Kabaddi World Cup. India won their first in the inaugural edition of the tournament back in 2012 in Patna, Bihar.

Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 so far

The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup has returned after 13 years in 2025. The tournament is being held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The second edition began from November 17 to 24 at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Dhaka.

A total of 11 kabaddi teams competed for the world title, including India, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Iran, Kenya, Nepal, Poland, Thailand, Uganda, and Zanzibar.

The 11 teams are divided into two groups. Group A consists of teams like India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Uganda, and Germany. Meanwhile, Group B featured teams like Chinese Taipei, Iran, Poland, Kenya, Nepal, and Zanzibar. The top teams from each group advanced to the semi-finals. From Group A it was India and Bangladesh, while from Group B it was Chinese Taipei and Iran.

After winning three group matches, India was the first team to qualify for the semi-final, where they beat Iran to advance into the final. Bangladesh and Chinese Taipei were also the teams that qualified for the semi-final.

This season’s event is special, as this is the first-ever Kabaddi World Cup tournament of women or men that is hosted outside India.
