Pranjali Dhumal Clinches Second Gold as India’s Medal Tally Rises to 19 at Deaflympics 2025

On Monday, November 24, 2025, India’s Pranjali Prashant Dhumal won gold in the 25m Pistol Women event at the 2025 Deaflympics held in Tokyo, Japan. The win was her second gold and third of the event. In the medal match, Pranjali finished with a score of 34.

In the second position is Ukraine’s Halyna Mosina, who won the silver with a score of 32. Meanwhile, Jiwon Jeon ended with the bronze medal with a score of 30. India’s Anuya Prasad finished fourth in the event. She previously won gold in the women’s 10 m air pistol category.

Earlier in the tournament, Pranjali won a gold in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed team event with her teammate Abhinav Deshwal.

In the first series of the finals match, Pranjali hit four out of five shots and continued the momentum till the ninth series, where she tied with Mosina at 30 shots. In the final series, she went on to hit four shots, whereas Mosina scored only two of them.

She entered the finals after setting a new world record qualification from last year’s World Deaf Qualification and Deaflympics with a score of 573-14x (573 out of 600). Meanwhile, Anuya finished with a score of 569-15x in second place behind Pranjali.

A look into Deaflympics 2025 so far

Over 111 Indian members, including 73 athletes and 38 coaches, at the Deaflympics in Tokyo, Japan.

The Deaflympics 2025 witnessed some brilliant performances from the Indian shooters. On Sunday, Indian shooter Abhinav Deshwal got his country its 15th medal in the men’s 25m pistol. He won the gold medal with a brilliant performance.

Meanwhile, in wrestling, India’s defending champion Sumit Dahiya won a gold medal in the men’s 97 kg freestyle event. In the final match, he defeated Türkiye’s Omer Saner, retaining his title. The win kept India’s dominance alive in the tournament.

After Sumit’s win, India finished with 16 medals in the shooting event at the 2025 Deaflympics, including seven gold, six silver, and three bronze. The event will conclude on November 25 with the 25 m Rapid Fire Pistol men’s finals.

Following Anuya and Pranjali’s recent victory in the 25m Pistol Women event, India’s medal tally increased. From 16 medals, India is now with 19 medals, two from Pranjali and one from Anuya. India is now with nine gold, seven silver, and three bronze medals.

Besides shooting and wrestling, India got its first-ever medal in karate at the Deaflympics. Loma Swain won a bronze medal in women’s kumite in the 50 kg category.
