India had a struggling campaign in the women’s quarterfinals match of the ongoing 2026 PSA Squash World Championships Asia Qualifiers in Hong Kong On Thursday, April 2, India’s Tanvi Khanna lost her game to top-seed Ainaa Amani of Malaysia by sets of 8-11, 7-11, 3-11. The loss ended India’s campaign at the tournament qualifiers. In addition to that, no women’s singles player from India will be part of the upcoming 2026 PSA World Championships in Giza, Egypt.

Earlier Anahat Singh had withdrawn from the event and Joshna Chinappa exited from the first-round game. For India, Khanna was their only contender for the world championship in women’s singles. However, the Indians managed to score just 18 points across the three games against the Malaysian.

Now Khanna has to wait for a year to make her World Championships debut. Previously at the Indian Open Squash held last month, Khanna had defeated Ainaa but the same could not result in the Squash World Championship 2026. With that, the Indian now trails by 1-2 against the Malaysian in their head-to-head score.

Earlier, Khanna had defeated Macao’s Gigi Yeung in straight games by 11-9, 11-6, 11-4 to secure her quarterfinals. Chinappa had lost in the first round to Hong Kong’s Po Yui Kirstie Wong by sets of 12-10, 9-11, 4-11, 3-11.

In the last three years, this is the second time that India won’t have any representation in the women’s event which questions the lack of strength in the domestic circuit.

Meanwhile, India has four men’s players contingent at the world championships who have directly earned their qualification through their World rankings. The list includes Abhay Singh, Ramit Tandon, Veer Chotrani, and Velavan Senthilkumar.
