On Friday, December 12, 2025, India’s Antim Panghal bagged the women’s 55kg title at the ongoing National Wrestling Championships at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Naranpura, Ahmedabad. The opening day of the tournament saw a total of 10 women’s wrestlers participating across 10 different categories. Other participating wrestlers that were in action included Manisha, Mansi, Priya Malik, Nisha Dahiya, Kiran and more.

Besides Antim, Manisha in the 57kg event, and Nisha in the 68kg event, also won gold medals in their respective categories. Meanwhile, in the 76kg category, Priya Malik finished with a silver medal after losing to Haryana’s Jyoti Berwal. On the other hand, world championships bronze medallist, Mansi, settled for a bronze medal in the 62kg event.
Overall, Haryana finished with the women’s team title with 190 points. The men’s freestyle events are, however, scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025.
The Senior National Wrestling Championships will be held in Ahmedabad from December 12 to 14. The high-intense tournament is being held in three disciplines, including women’s Wrestling (WW), Men’s Freestyle (FS), and Greco-Roman (GR). For now, the remaining events left are the men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman, which are scheduled for Day 3.
With Ahmedabad as the host of this event, the success of this National tournament is symbolic as the city aims for the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
The highlight of the event saw some strategic changes in the weight class. Olympic medallist Aman Sehrawat moved to the 61kg category after his bronze medal win in the 2024 Paris Games. On the other side, Panghal, the two-time World Championships medallist, moves from 53kg to 55kg in the women’s event.
