Deepti Sharma Rewrites T20I History with Unmatched All-Round Milestone

India Women’s team all-rounder Deepti Sharma has created history by becoming the first cricketer, male or female, to surpass both the 1000 runs and 150 wickets landmark in T20I cricket. She achieved this milestone during the third Women’s T20I against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram, where the off-spinner picked up three wickets, ending with figures of 3/18. In the two matches played so far, Deepti has picked up four wickets.

Deepti recently earned the No. 1 rank in ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings. She is currently tied with Australia’s Megan Schutt as the highest wicket-taker in WT20Is with 151 wickets. Meanwhile, in the WODIs, Deepti has picked 162 wickets and scored 2739 runs in 131 matches played so far. Notably, in the recently concluded Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, Deepti took 22 wickets and scored 215 runs, earning her the Player of the Tournament honor.

Meanwhile, Megan has been an influential bowler for Australia Women. With 296 international wickets, her bowling has helped a great deal since her debut in 2012. In 2019, she scripted history as the first female bowler to take two international hat-tricks. In the 2020 T20 World Cup, she was the leading bowler with 13 wickets, followed by the next year, when she became the second-fastest female bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets. In 123 WT20Is played, Schutt has achieved 151 wickets at an average of 17.70. While in 108 WODIs, she picked up 145 wickets at an average of 23.94.

Deepti overtakes Ellyse Perry

With 333 international wickets, she edged past Ellyse Perry’s record of 331 for most wickets in women’s cricket history. With that, she has also made her entry into the top three of all-time bowlers behind former cricket legends Jhulan Goswami (355) and Katherine Sciver-Brunt (335).

Australia Women’s all-rounder Ellyse has been a standout bowler for her team with 331 international wickets claimed. In WODIs, she has picked up 166 wickets and scored 4504 runs in 165 matches played so far. On the other hand, in 168 WT20Is, she took 126 wickets and secured 2173 runs.

Ellyse last featured in the three-match T20I series against New Zealand, which Australia won by a 3-0 lead. In that series, she scored 64 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 160.00.
