Sakshi Rana is a young and promising Indian field hockey player who represents the Indian women’s national hockey team as a forward and midfielder. She was born in Sonipat, Haryana, a region known for producing many talented athletes in India. From an early age, Sakshi showed great interest in hockey and began training seriously to pursue a career in the sport.
She received professional training under former Indian women’s hockey captain and coach Pritam Rani Siwach, who played an important role in shaping her early career. With strong discipline, speed, and attacking skills, Sakshi quickly progressed through the junior hockey system and established herself as one of the emerging talents from Haryana.
Sakshi represented India at the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2023 held in Santiago, Chile, where the Indian team finished ninth. Earlier in August 2023, she also represented the Indian junior team at the Under-21 Four Nations Junior Women’s Invitational Tournament in Düsseldorf, Germany, gaining valuable international experience.
Her leadership qualities were recognized when she was appointed the vice-captain of the Indian Junior Women’s hockey team for the Europe tour in May 2024. In the same year, she was part of the Indian junior team that achieved a major success by winning the Gold Medal at the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2024 in Oman, highlighting the strength of India’s upcoming generation of players.
Sakshi made her senior debut for the Indian women’s hockey team in February 2025 during the FIH Pro League match against Spain at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Impressively, she scored her first international goal in her debut match, marking a memorable start to her senior international career.
Apart from representing India internationally, Sakshi Rana is registered with Hockey Haryana and competes in domestic tournaments for the state team. She also played for Vedanta Odisha Warriors in the inaugural Women’s Hockey India League (2025), gaining exposure in one of the country’s premier professional hockey leagues.
With her speed, attacking instinct, and ability to play both as a forward and midfielder, Sakshi Rana is considered one of the rising stars of Indian women’s hockey. Her early achievements and international exposure suggest a promising future as she continues to develop into a key player for India.
