India squash players had a mixed run in the second round of the 2026 India Open PSA Copper event in Mumbai on Thursday, March 19. Top seeds Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh, won their respective matches, while Ramit Tandon and Velavan Senthilkumar were bowed out from their contention. Ramit lost in straight sets to Malaysia’s Duncan Lee by 9-11, 4-11, 9-11. Meanwhile, Velavan lost his match by three sets of 8-11, 9-11, 9-11.

India’s young prodigy Anahat registered a solid run by defeating Egypt’s Farida Walid in straight sets by 3-0. The reigning women’s champion and top seed women’s player has now advanced in the top eight. She will next take on Malaysia’s Sehveetrraa Kumar in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Tanvi Khanna made an impressive run in her match against Egypt’s Nour Khafagy ending up with a 3-0 victory defeating her by sets of 11-5, 11-9, 11-9. Veteran Chinappa started her campaign with a Round 2 win defeating Irealnd’s Breanne Flynn in four games and by sets of 12-10, 11-4, 8-11, 11-9.

Elsewhere, in the men’s draw, second seed Abhay delivered a decisive win over Hong Kong’s Matthew Lai after defeating him by 3-0. On the other hand, youngster Veer Chotrani also made it to the quarter-finals after his opponent Yannik Omlor of Germany took the decision to withdraw from the first game due to injury.
