After days of constant hard work and dominant victories, India has finally won the WSF Squash World Cup Champions. On Sunday, 14 December 2025, the Indian squad of Joshna Chinappa, Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh defeated top seeds Hong Kong, China in a comfortable finals match by a score of 3-0 held at Chennai’s Express Avenue Mall. The victory was India’s second medal at the World Cup. In the last edition held in 2023, they finished with a bronze.

India’s No. 1 Indian squash star Abhay Singh stole the spotlight in the first men’s singles match of the tournament against Tsz Kwan Lau. Abhay took away a comfortable straight game win in sets of 7-1, 7-4, 7-4.
The dominant run was then continued by India’s veteran Joshna Chinappa, going against world No. 27 Ka Yi Lee of Hong Kong. The 39-year-old woman’s player showcased her skills and experience with class and went on to win the match in four rounds by sets of 7-3, 2-7, 7-5, 7-1.
Meanwhile, India’s teen star Anahat Singh took the final stride against Ho Tze Lok, the reigning Asian Champion. The youngster showcased class and claimed a dominant victory by 3-0 in sets of 7-2, 7-2, 7-5 and sealed the win for India in the finals.
India’s Velavan Senthilkumar was, however, not part of the 2025 World Cup finals event on Sunday.
India’s success in the tournament has been impressive since they started their campaign in the pool matches. India was part of Pool B that also included Switzerland and Brazil. In their first match scheduled against Switzerland, they won by a score of 4-0. In their second and final pool match against Brazil, India defeated them by 3-0. Their run continued in the quarter-finals clash against South Africa, which they won by 3-0.
Later in the semi-finals, the Indian team faced the defending champions, Egypt. But the Indian players showcased dominance and grabbed the finals spot against Hong Kong, China, who edged past Japan. In the pool matches, Egypt defeated Iran and Japan, and played against Australia in the quarter-finals.
