Gujarat Giants registered their fourth win of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 after defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by three runs on Tuesday, January 27, at Vadodara. With the win, the team is a step closer to qualifying for the playoffs alongside Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women. In addition to that, they now sit in second place in the points table with eight points and a net run rate of -0.271. They have one more match, and if they win they have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, DC Women have one match remaining, which is scheduled on February 1 against UP Warriorz. Their contention in the playoffs now rests on the other remaining matches and the victory over UP Warriorz.
In the first innings, GG Women made a decent start despite losing their opener Sophie Devine (13 off 10) in the third over. Beth Mooney’s 58 runs off 46 balls and Anushka Sharma’s 39 off 25 balls got the team to a stable momentum. But the middle and lower-order batters failed to continue the strike and ended up losing eight more wickets. Only Georgia Wareham (11 off 7) and Tanuja Kanwar (21 off 11) made decent contribution but the rest, including skipper Ashleigh Gardner (2 off 4), Bharti Fulmali (3 off 5), Kanika Ahuja (4 off 5), and Kashvee Gautam (2 off 3), ended in disappointment.
N Sree Charani was the star bowler of DC Women, who picked up four wickets, while Chinelle Henry added two, followed by Marizanne Kapp, Minnu Mani, and Nandni Sharma securing one each.
Meanwhile, for DC Women, completing the target of 175 was a difficult one as the batting line-up, specifically the top and middle, struggled. Openers Shafali Verma (14 off 10) and Lizelle Lee (11 off 20) were at a slow start, followed by Laura Wolvaardt (24 runs off 23) and Rodrigues (16 off 16) adding in decent runs. However, Niki Prasad’s 47 runs off 24 balls and Sneh Rana’s 29 off 15 got DC Women to a stable position, but they let alone could not do much for the team.
Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Devine’s bowling were the highlights of the match, with each picking up three and four wickets respectively, while Gardner added one. GG Women bowlers successfully restricted DC batters’ run chase at 171/8.
Both DC and GG Women have one more match remaining in the league before the playoffs. GG Women have a strong chance to qualify; DC Women’s fate rests on their run rate for now.
