India’s young shuttler Aakarshi Kashyap has made her entry into the women’s singles main draw of the German Open Super 300 event. On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the World No. 62 defeated Chinese Taipei’s Lee Yu-Hsuan in straight sets of 21-10, 21-15 in the quarterfinals match. She will next face Chinese Taipei Huang Yu-Hsun in the main draw match.

Other shuttlers who are part of the Indian contingent include veteran Kidambi Srikanth and World Junior Championships silver medallist Tanvi Sharma. They are also competing in the USD 250,000 event.

The match began with Kashyap breaking in at 9-4 and then taking the lead by 16-8 to win the opening game. The second game saw Lee with a bit of an improved game, going from 8-14 to 12-14. However, Kashyap did not let Lee dominate much further and went on to seal the win over the Chinese Taipei player.

Indian women’s contingent in the German Open 2026

India’s women’s singles category is being led by World Junior Championship medalist Tanvi Sharma. After two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu decided to withdraw, the attention is now on the World No. 40. The 16-year-old is currently one of India’s promising performers of today. At the German Open 2026, Tanvi will open her campaign against Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching.

Tanvi’s notable performances this season include victory against World No. 2 Wang Zhi Yi at the India Open, followed by World No. 12 Tomoka Miyazaki in the Indonesia Masters. Defeating World No. 17 Busanan Ongbamrungphan at the Badminton Asia Team Championships this month has been greatly appreciated worldwide.

Besides Kashyap and Tanvi, India’s women’s singles contingent also includes names like Tasnim Mir, Malvika Bansod, Rakshitha Ramraj, and Isharani Baruah.

Rank No. 51 Malvika Bansod is set to appear for her sixth tournament of this season and will start her campaign against Denmark’s Line Højmark Kjaersfeldt in the opening round. Bansod had sustained a knee injury at the Indonesia Open 2025 and, since then, made her return in 2026.

Meanwhile, World number 45 Isharani Baruah will face Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong. Baruah has previously made it to the quarterfinals at the Thailand Masters Super 300 and was a runner-up at the Odisha Masters 2025. Tasnim Mir is set to face top seed Wang Zhi Yi of China in the opening-round game.

Meanwhile, former World Number 1 Kidambi Srikanth will take the lead of the men’s section. The 31-year-old is currently at World No. 32 and is aiming to secure a direct entry into major events like the Super 750 and Super 1000 events. Srikanth is a 2021 World Championship silver medalist with runner-up titles at the Malaysia Masters Super 500 and the Syed Modi International Super 300.
