India Clinches Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025, Secures Second Consecutive Title

On November 24, 2025, India took home the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 title after defeating Chinese Taipei in the finals game by 35–28 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. With the victory, India has secured their second consecutive World Cup title.

Led by captain Ritu Negi and vice-captain Pushpa Rana, they led the team with consistency and leadership throughout the tournament. Ritu played her role in maintaining the match management. Pushpa’s swift raids and defense moves were enough to stress out the opponent. In addition to that, players like Champa Thakur, Bhawna Thakur, and Sakshi Sharma delivered some notable performances.

The team was trained under head coach Tejaswi and assistant coach Priyanka, who helped them in forming a disciplined and coordinated squad. The semifinals match against Iran on Sunday saw India’s dominance from the start of the game, which helped them in achieving a comfortable victory by 33–21. On the other side, Chinese Taipei defeated Bangladesh in their semi-final match by 25–18 to enter the finals.

The tournament had a total of 11 countries in participation, fostering the growth of women’s kabaddi.

The event is the second edition of the Women’s World Cup. The inaugural season was held in Patna in 2012, which India won against Iran in the finals game.

Following India’s victory at the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team on X and called the victory an inspirational moment for the sport and for the younger generation to come.

PM Modi’s X post read, “Congratulations to our Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team for making the nation proud by winning the Kabaddi World Cup 2025! They have showcased outstanding grit, skills and dedication. Their victory will inspire countless youngsters to pursue Kabaddi, dream bigger and aim higher.”

Meanwhile, the Pro Kabaddi League head coach and former India captain Puneri Paltan also congratulated the team on the achievement. He also praised the increasing growth of women’s kabaddi worldwide.

In a recent interview released on Pro Kabaddi.com, Paltan stated, “It is a very proud moment for India as the women’s team retained the World Cup trophy in Dhaka. Their dominant run to the final and then the trophy shows how much women’s kabaddi has progressed in the last few years. It is also a testament to the global appeal of the sport, with Bangladesh hosting the World Cup, and I hope that this momentum continues in the years to come.”
