The opening day of the National Aquatic Championships saw record-breaking performances across multiple events.

The 79th Senior National Aquatic Championships, taking place from the 16th of June to the 21st, witnessed an exciting first day as many records were broken. The event is taking place at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad.

Aditi Hegde competing in the women’s freestyle 1500m, completed the swim in 17:20:82, creating an individual record. While the group from Karnataka registered a time of 3:53:45 breaking a two-year-old record of the 4x100m relay. They broke the record by more than 8 seconds: Nina Venkatesh +0.65 28.34 59.55, Rujula S +0.38 27.60 57.98, Dhinidhi Desinghu +0.46 57.51, and Tanishi Gupta +0.44 27.85 58.41.

Railways swimmer, Astha Choudhary broke the 17-year-old record of women’s 200m butterfly. She registered a time of 2:18:37.

Women 1500m Freestyle – Aditi Hegde (17:20:82)

Women 50m Breaststroke – Lineysha AK (33.51)

Women 200m Butterfly – Astha Choudhary (2:18:37)
